We are proud to offer an exclusive tour to the real virgin rain forest of SELVA LEONA, in the mountains of TILARAN. These same mountains continue up to Monte Verde.
The owners of Hotel La Mansion Inn, were invited 10 years ago by the owner of SELVA LEONA to visit this spectacular reserve of 180 ha.(450 acres). Before that time, this hidden treasure had never been open to the public. So they decided to open this primary rain forest for the guests of La Mansion.

The Arenal Volcano is at only 25 min East from the Mansion. Although there is no more lava coming out since October 2010, you still can hike amidst the impressive lava flows of the past. We recommend to drive to the ARENAL OBSERVATORY LODGE. They have several trails, nicer than the one of the national Park. You pay a small fee at the Reception desk, and in turn you can choose between several trails.The Morning Walk

The Maleku are an indigenous tribe in Costa Rica located in the Guatuso Indigenous Reserve near the town of Guatuso (San Rafael de Guatuso). Around 600 aboriginal people live on the reserve, the reserve consists of various “palenques” or villages, and among them are Palenque Sol, Palenque Margarita and, the biggest, Palenque Tonjibe.
You can visit the Indian Reservation in Malekus Guatuso (600 inhabitants, 2900 hectares), where community leaders will guide you on the trails to learn about their use of medicinal plants, graves, native farms, crafts and recovery of their language-Malekus Jaica,
The visit ends with a presentation of an ancient ceremony of the Holy God, Nature, and Man.
This tour can best be combined with the Guatuso Malekus Indian Reserve.
This tour introduces travelers to one of Costa Rica’s most incredible sights – the enchanting, blue-hued Río Celeste. The river’s color is the result of the chemical mixture of sulfur and carbonate, which originate in the nearby Tenorio Volcano. Seeing this sky-blue river flow through a dense rainforest is an undeniably amazing experience.

The hanging bridges tour consists of a hike on a 1.9 mile (3.1 km) trail on which you can enjoy the rainforests flora and fauna. The trail crosses nine fixed bridges and six suspension bridges and is laid out at a maximum grade of seven degrees so that anyone can walk it.
We recommend to do the hike as early as possible, the gate opens at 7:00 AM. If you can, take a guide, you will see much more wildlife. The tour takes approx 2 hrs.
To get there: the trail, leading to the Hanging Bridges is just before the dam of the lake, at the left side.
From the dam it is about 12 min drive to the entrance.
There is a big parking lot outside.
From the restaurant you have superior panorama views on the volcano.
Avoid to go with pouring rain.
Experience the peacefulness of the forest traveling on Peñas Blancas river, with the opportunity to observe many animals like: monkeys, sloths, iguanas, tortoises, crocodiles, and several types of birds. Our boat doesn’t have motor, this way you will enjoy of the journey quietly rowing and taking photos, while you enjoy of drinking and tropical fruits without disturb the animals.
The Ecoglide Canopy Tour is set just outside the town of La Fortuna near the base of the Arenal Volcano. This tour provides travelers with an excellent opportunity to engage with the rainforest in a truly unique way. With the help of professional bilingual guides, tour takers will soar along sturdy steel cables high in the forest canopy. Before, during and after the ride, wonderful views of the forest, volcano, and hillsides can be enjoyed.
The Ecoglide tour is divided into three sections. The first section has 7 platforms and cables, whose lengths vary from 30 to 360 ft. The second section has 6 platforms and 5 cables, with lengths that range from 140 to 520 ft. Following this section, tour takers will have the option of riding the notoriously fun Tarzan Swing, which sends harnessed riders soaring out into a forest clearing. The third and final section consists of 5 platforms and 4 cables. The cables range in length from 230 to 1,410 ft.
The slow-paced Sky Tram gondolas soar smoothly through the rainforest, offering up endless views during their mountainous ascent. Accompanied by a bilingual guide, tour takers will have the ability to stop the tram at any point, a feature that allows for magnificent, one-of-a-kind photographs to be captured and tropical birds to be spotted.
Once the top is reached, visitors are invited to explore the observation deck, where they’ll enjoy magnificent views of the Arenal Volcano’s southern face. From here, one can also see Lake Arenal and the rolling hillsides that surround it. Visitors can spend as much time as they please on the observation deck before heading back down.
There are two ways to return to the Sky Tram’s base. You can ride the tram down the same route that you ascended or sign up for a fast-paced zip line tour to the bottom. Those seeking an adrenalin rush would be wise to choose the second option, which will have them flying along a series of secure cables connecting one platform to another.
At the tram’s base there is another large observation deck as well as a restaurant.
The Sky Tram is a 45-minute drive from the town of the Mansion Inn.
The Venado Caves are for those people that would not matter get wet and muddy, in this fascinating adventure under ground to only 45 minute from La Fortuna, we will take you through narrow passages and incredible labyrints, chambers where we will see the famous formation of rock named “La Papaya” and other stalactites and stalagmites that they surely will astonish to everybody. Also you will see spidersand bats which are frequent in this place
Enjoy a pleasant tour on Arenal Lake and breath taking views of the Arenal Volcano. Arenal Lake is place that counts with many natural attractions. Due to the beauty of the landscapes and lush vegetation, Arenal Lake surrounding areas have become an excellent spot for boat rides.
The boat-man picks you up with a van in front of the hotel, and rides down to his nice, covered boat on the lake.
The boat will go slowly along the shore, so that you can observe the many water birds, and eventually monkeys, slots in the trees along the shore. The ride takes you to the volcano, so that you can observe the mountain from the lake. If it is lunchtime the boat makes a lunch-stop at the small village of EL CASTILLO, at the other side of the lake.
